Christmas Gift Ideas for Women ~
I love nightgowns. Not the silky, “I’m in the mood” kind. More like, “I just want to hang out and cuddle” kind. I think they’re more comfy than top/bottom jammies, more feminine, and super easy to put on. I’m all about a 1 step process for putting on my jammies…saves time. 🙂 It’s amazing what I can do with 5 extra seconds. Trouble is, sometimes its hard to find nightgowns that aren’t too “granny,” but I’ve had my eye on this one, Organic Cotton Rosette Gown, from Garnet Hill. Comes in a few color options. $69 (maybe a sale will come soon??) Great gift by itself, or paired with: slippers, a movie, popcorn, candles, a book…
For some reason, cooking is more fun when you have a cute apron. I love this “Carly” apron…also, available in little girls size. Great gift alone, or paired with: cookbook, kitchen gadget (apple peeler/corer, microplane zester, cast iron skillet), or a gift card to dinner (for those darn times where you burn the food, or just don’t feel like cooking.)
One of my favorite things ever are my Sorel boots. They’re liking having 4-wheel drive on your feet! These are my #1 shoe, all winter long…whether there is snow on the ground, or not. They’re pretty expensive, but they will last forever and if you have snowy winters, you will get tons of use out of them. I have these ones, in green, but I also love the Sorel Tofino Boot, pictured. Oh, and I especially love these ones, but I try not to, as they are $200 bones. They range from about $100, on up.
My younger sister, bless her heart, had never tried bareMinerals foundation. For her last birthday, I picked her up one of the Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Foundation Kits. I went into Sephora, thinking I would save some money and buy the items separately, since I personally don’t love the Mineral Veil, bronzer, or primer that they include in the kit. But, that idea was quickly shot when I realized how just the few things I wanted (Big brush, smallest brush, and foundation) would add up to well over the price of the kit. The kit really is a super deal. My sister loves it! Really. Now, my even littler sister is jealous and wants to get her hands on some. She may have to wait until her birthday. 🙂 $61
A couple months ago, I bought my 5 year old, Audrey, the cutest poncho at Target. It was so stinkin’ cute, that I have been determined, ever since, to find myself one. Apparently, I’m not alone here, because all the cute ones I find are sold out, or made for little girls! Grrrr! So frustrating. But, it is good to know that they are well liked, thus a safe gift idea for women. 🙂 This was one of my favorite ponchos, sold out in my size…maybe it’s in yours? My super-favorite was a zip-up poncho, in gray, from Loft. It sold out so fast, they just took it off their site. After scouring the internet, this poncho from Overstock, is probably my next best pick. Crap, it’s sold out now too! Nope, they have it at Macy’s…it’s just more expensive. Do you feel my frustration?? How hard is it for a woman to find a good-looking poncho, in stock?? Really hard. Send me links if you find one you like. That is, after you order one for yourself, or you may never get one. Great gift idea, if you can find it.
I’ve always wanted to try these, Tarte LipSurgence, one of Sephora’s bestsellers. Reviewers say the colors go on mild, it’s super smooth like a lip balm, they don’t dry out your lips, and last a long time. The biggest deal for me is this…”clinically proven to give you a 6,000 percent increase in lips’ moisture content in 28 days.” I must put that to the test. These things are pretty spendy for just one, but Sephora has a Christmas package, 5 colors, $29 for the whole thing. The retail price is $120. I imagine this will sell out quick, it already is on Tarte’s web site.
I used to think those snuggie things were so nerdy. What a snob, right? Well, guess who loves hers?? Um, me. Every time I go into a Brookstone store, I spend half the time petting the soft N.A.P. blankets and robes. Ahhh….so soft. I mentioned that I got a couple NFL football ones, for the boys, for Christmas. And, when I saw this N.A.P. snuggie, on Brookstones site, I had to have it. We’re going to be a family of snuggie-nerds every morning, during homeschool. Sweet! The best part is, Brookstone is doing buy 1, get 1 half off. So, I got another one for a certain gal for Christmas (can’t spoil the surprise). $39.99 for one. Great gift by itself, or pair it with: a movie, slippers, popcorn, a book, candle, magazine subscriptions, etc.
I feel like I have been through a million and one point-and-shoot cameras. I have my nicer camera, then I like to have a small one for my purse, for spontaneous moments and video clips. I’ve had a couple Nikons, Canons, and a Kodak. I was so HAPPY my last Cannon broke (after just a year), because I’ve been wanting to try a Sony. My little sis has a $100 Sony Cybershot and everyone in the fam thinks her cheap-o camera takes the best pictures in low-light conditions, the biggest weakness of point-and-shoots, in my opinion. So, I opted to get a Sony this time, and so far I’m really happy! Mine was a bit more expensive, I got the Sony Cybershot DSC-HX9V. It’s the fanciest little camera I’ve had yet. (You can read all the specs on Amazon.) I have only snapped a few photos, but this one of Isabelle sleeping on the kitchen floor was taken at 9:00 at night, with only a few lights on. I thought it turned out pretty clear for low-light! But, I really super-love the video quality…so nice. It also won Editors Choice Award on CNET for most recommended compact camera. That’s something. Anyway, I think Sony might be my new favorite for small P&S cameras…all price ranges available.
With over 400 5-star reviews, the Olay Professional Pro-X Cleaning System, is said to be AMAZING for cleaning out pores, sloughing off dead skin cells, and preparing your face for moisturizer. I can’t wait to try it. The competing product, Clarisonic Mia, also gets fantastic reviews, but it’s way more expensive. The Olay system is $32, and Clarisonic Mia is $116 (comes in cute colors, if that matters.) You could give this by itself, or pair it with some great skin cream, such as Olay’s Exfoliating Cleanser, or their award winning (and scientifically proven to combat wrinkles) moisturizer, Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream.
I hope you’re not sick of gift ideas, cause I have plenty more, coming your way!
