Hi Everyone! It’s Adelle from Packed with Fun, the official blog for Get Away Today. It’s that time of year again, and since it’s my last post of the year on “Or So She Says,” I wanted to share one of my favorite Christmas ideas. At Get Away Today we think the gift of a Disneyland vacation is one of the best gifts to give and receive. I’ve had a lot of fun putting together different ideas and ways to surprise your family with one on Christmas morning. Today I wanted to share my favorite Disneyland vacation surprise idea for Christmas. But, before I do, I would like to point out that just because you give the gift on Christmas morning does not mean you have to travel on Christmas Day. You can get even more bang for your buck by giving the gift of a future vacation. Plus, the vacation anticipation can be one of the best parts!
Note: If you ARE thinking of traveling during the Holidays at the Disneyland Resort, they are so magical. Read this to see what’s in store for your family!
Every little girl dreams of being a princess and there’s no better place to feel like one and meet the “real” ones than Disneyland. Cinderella is one of our family’s favorite movies, so I put together a fun way to present your princess with her own glass slipper and letter from Cinderella inviting her to Disneyland to come meet her and her princess friends.
Here’s what you’ll need to create some fairy-godmother magic for Christmas morning at your house:

Your favorite princess-y fabric (two 10×10″ pieces) with extra pieces or ribbon for tassels
Making your pillow is as easy as “Bibbidi-bobbido-boo!” Start by cutting two 10 x 10 inch squares of fabric and pin them together with the outsides facing each other. Next, sew around the edges leaving a 1/2 inch seam allowance and a 2-3 inch opening.
Trim off the corners of your fabric and turn you pillow right-side-out. Press the corners out so they form a point and start stuffing your pillow. When you’re done stuffing, pin the opening closed and sew along the edge by hand or with your machine.
Decorating your pillow is the next step. I used the extra pillow fabric and cut four 10 x 1 inch strips with pinking sheers to make tassels. You could also use any fun, fancy ribbons or other embellishments you have. I tied my strips into a knot and cut down the center of the fabric to make four dangling pieces. Then, I just glued each strip just behind the knot and pressed it firmly on the the corners of the pillow.
Now that you have your pillow complete, you’ve got to find the perfect glass slipper. I don’t have a favorite brand of Cinderella slipper, but you can find them at most retailers, such as the Disney Store. Also, Amazon had a lot of really cute ones, so I would check those out too.
Finally, print your Cinderella letter and get ready to make your princess’s dream come true on Christmas morning! It’s sure to be one she remembers forever.
