Hi! My name is Tracie and I am the author of Cleverly Inspired. I am so thrilled to be here with you today! My blog is about any and all things thrifty…including DIY projects, decorating ideas, remodeling, along with many recipes! My hope is that you are inspired to be clever in your own home.
Here is a really easy craft! It is a great way to “display” some of those sacred recipe cards from the past. Have fun with it!
I remember my mom’s recipe box. It was a vintage old 70’s floral metal box. I loved looking through it. Even when I was little and I couldn’t cook. My mother has the most beautiful handwriting. It is really artwork. Isn’t it ashamed we don’t teach that in school anymore?!?! Her recipe cards are really quite beautiful. I wanted to create something with them….
So I copied some of her cards (so that I didn’t have to cut up the originals)
I also used some of my Grammie’s recipes…and Bill’s Grandmothers…that she had given to me. I cut them up with pinking sheers into squares.
Using some rubber cement I glued the pieces to a paper-mache box. Random placement–think mosaic….
After the box was covered I put a coat of triple thick sealant on the box.
I also added a couple of rows of ribbon.
I love how is turned out! A great way to display some recipes of the past 🙂
Just got finished checking out your blog. You have lots of fun projects!
Agreed!
