Hey Everyone! For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Kristina from Mother’s Niche, and I’m so happy to be back with OSSS this year as a contributor. I’ve been getting my house decorated for Valentine’s Day…so it’s on my mind. I thought I would share our Family Valentine’s Day tradition with you today.
Family Valentine’s Day Traditions:
Family Valentine’s Day Tradition: FAMILY “Love Day”
Okay, so even when I was single, I hated when people would mope around on Valentine’s Day and act like the world was out to get them. And why does it have to get labeled “Single Awareness Day?” Can’t we ALL just celebrate a fun holiday whether we are single or not?
Okay, sorry for the rant. But I thought I’d give you a little background for our family Valentine’s Tradition. I don’t want my children to ever grow up feeling that Valentine’s Day is only awesome if you have a “lover.” I want them to always look forward to it. Which is why we call it “Family Love Day” in our family. It’s a day for showing each other love. It’s a day for having fun as a family. This can be done in a variety of ways: A fun breakfast in bed (or just a fun breakfast in general), a fun lunch with cute notes, or a night out on the town. My husband and I like to take the kids and go to dinner. If Valentine’s Day falls on a weekday we will take the kids to dinner and then celebrate as a couple on the weekend.
Family Valentine’s Day Tradition: “Bee My Valentine” Printable Homemade Valentines
I’m also including a free printable for you today! I’m becoming more and more fond of homemade Valentines the more that I see them. With all the printables that are available today, it really wouldn’t be very time consuming to just make your own. Today’s printable follows a “BEE” theme, so you could use anything bee-related: honey sticks, some type of toy, or even Burt’s Bee’s Lip Balm. I used a finger puppet in the picture below…

That’s all for now! Do you have any family Valentine’s Day traditions? Let me know!
