How To Host: A Reality TV Party

I’ve never actually done this…but I just came up with the idea and think it would be WAY super fun! So, I’m totally doing it! I love throwing parties, having people over, organizing, decorating, and coming up with cute ideas. I’m always trying to think of any excuse I can to throw a party!
K, here’s my big idea…are you ready? Hold on to your seat! Well, it’s actually super simple….but, it’s to have a reality tv show party (group)! What the? Well, here’s the scoop…my hubs and I love cuddling up to a good reality show. We love the drama (since there is very little in our lives, knock on wood), and it’s just so fun to see all these different personalities and how they work together. But, reality shows are way more fun to watch if you’ve got more people! So, I devised a plan…
Recruit a group of friends who will vow to be loyal members of your “reality show group”. Everyone who joins should donate a certain amount of money to “the pot”, say $10.
On the first day of the show, get a list of all the contestants names on tv. Have each person in your group draw a name from a hat. Depending on how many contestants vs. group members, they may have to draw more than one. Each group member has to represent a contestant on the show. They will root for them, cry with them, laugh with them, die for them.  If you don’t have a big enough group, give everyone more than one contestant to represent.
If their contestant gets kicked off the show….they have to supply all the refreshments for the next weeks show. The winning group member (whose contestant wins the show) never has to supply the refreshments and also gets to keep the money in the pot! Am I fun, or what? You should totally invite me to your party.

If you are hosting the party, you should probably supply some treats for the first episode…how about some Feta Avocado Dip and some Caramel Toffee Dip with apples! Those are the dips we made on Good Things Utah and they are both soooo yum!
Have fun, I would love to hear how it goes!

Mariel, I have another topic idea for you! I love to cook but it seems I always refer to the good old trusty http://www.allrecipes.com website for recipe ideas. But I do love this website because viewers rate/review recipes so I know if I even want to try the recipe or not. I would love to expand my horizons with other recipe websites. Problem is I don’t really know what is out there. I think it would be great if you did a recipe website post. Thanks!

Back in 2001 I hosted a Survivor Party every week for friends and even had candles representing each contestant and would blow the candle out whose torch got snuffed (yes, cheezy, but fun! 🙂 Your post inspires me to start back up again!
