Five awesome Primary Talks for August Come Follow Me topics. These talks make church at home easy and meaningful.
Have you noticed how crazy the world has been lately? I feel like I am on a boat in the middle of the ocean, during a storm, surrounded by sharks, with a broken sail, no fresh water and a pirate for a captain! It’s totally nuts.
A few weeks ago, I was completely fed up with everything. My tummy hurt from stress and worry and I was so distracted with new articles and case counts that I was barley able to function properly. I was in a yucky place.
But, I was able to escape. Sabbath morning came and I was blessed with a beautiful gift from my Father in Heaven that changed everything.
It was a Sunday morning. My family was busy getting dressed for our little home church meeting and I was in charge of preparing the living room for our service. I organized the chairs and got the chalk board ready with the program for the day.
My husband and our kids gathered with me when it was time to start our meeting. My hubby welcomed everyone to “church” and announced the opening hymn. It was Be Still My Soul. As soon as the song started to play and we sang the first line of lyrics, the spirit came into our home and my heart like a flood. I was so filled with the Holy Ghost that tears spilled from my eyes.
It felt like Heavenly Father was shielding me from the chaos of the world and embracing me with His peace.
It was a vivid reminder to me that God is in charge and He has a plan for us. If I (and all of us) can trust Him, turn to Him, and believe in His Son, everything will be ok.
I am so grateful I took the time to worship Him. Sunday is truly my day of rest. I hope you are continuing to hold your own family meetings each week too! Has your soul been strengthened for your efforts?
These Primary Talks are written based on the August Come Follow Me lessons for Primary. We have so many amazing heroes to discuss this month…Captain Moroni, Helaman, The Stripling Warriors, Nephi! Get ready to tell some amazing stories of faith and courage.

August 2nd Primary Talk: I Can Be A Good Example
Do you like the Primary song called, “I’m Trying To Be Like Jesus?” The words in the song talk about all of the good things Jesus did when he was a little boy. He was kind and calm and a good friend to everyone. He loved Heavenly Father and listened to his earthly parents. I want to be like Jesus. Jesus showed us the best way to live! I can be a good example by following in His footsteps.
When my family and friends watch me choose the right, it helps to spread the gospel. It is like bearing my testimony with actions instead of words. When I make a good choice, I am helping other people make good choices too. I hope we can all try to be like Jesus. If we do, we can be happy and stay on the path back to Heaven. Being a good example will help others to be happy too.

August 9th Church Talk for Children: The Battle For Good
There are a lot of stories in the Book of Mormon that talk about war. There are battles where a lot of people are hurt and battles when they are protected and kept safe from harm.
One hero from the scriptures is Captain Moroni. He taught his people that they were fighting to protect their families and their freedom. He reminded the people that they needed to stand up for what is right, even when it is hard and scary. We are not in a physical battle with swords and shields today. But, we are still asked to defend the truth. I want to make Captain Moroni proud of my actions.
I can choose to turn off a bad TV show, be careful with what I look at on the internet, stand up for someone who is being bullied, and remind my family to say our prayers. I can fight for what is right and be true to Jesus and Heavenly Father and they will protect me from harm.

August 16th Primary Talk: Latter-day Warriors
A long time ago, during Book of Mormon times, there was a group of people that made a covenant with God that they would never fight in a battle. They buried their weapons in the ground as part of their promise.
Many years later, they were under attack and had no way to protect their families. They realized that the young men in their city never made the covenant with God. They were free to go to battle. But, the boys were very young. They had a brave man to lead them. His name was Helaman. Helaman was a man of God. He was able to keep them safe…even in battle. None of the 2,000 young warriors were killed. It was a miracle.
God can also keep us safe when we follow His leaders. We have a prophet that gives us guidance on how to live. We also have a bishop and primary leaders who teach us. If we listen to their teachings and have faith, we can be protected from the things of the world. We can be latter-day warriors!

August 23rd Primary Talk For Kids: Jesus Is My Rock
Do you know that story of the wise man and the foolish man? The foolish man build his house upon the sand. The wise man built his house upon a rock. Which house was able to make it though the rain storm without washing away? Do you want to guess? The man who built his house on the rock was wise because rock is a solid foundation. Rock is hard and unmovable. It is secure. It does not shift or slide with rain and wind.
The scriptures teach us that Jesus is our rock and our foundation. That means that Jesus will always be there for us. He is steady and dependable. When we build a life based on His teachings and His Gospel we are like the wise man! Our life will be good and strong.
I am glad that Jesus is always there for me. He is my rock. It makes me feel safe to know that He died for me and made it so I can be with my family forever.

August 30th Church Talk for Children: Why I Obey
Heavenly Father has given us commandments. Sometimes we are asked to do things that can be kind of hard. Like, saying a prayer in front of a lot of people or not getting to go to a sports activity on Sunday. It can be difficult to obey all of the time.
Heavenly Father loves me. He loves you too! He wants us to be happy. He even said that we are created so we can have joy. That is pretty neat. The commandments are made to keep us on the path that brings the most lasting happiness. Choosing the right helps us to become like Jesus and God.
I obey because it makes me feel good inside. The Holy Ghost makes me feel warm and calm. When I do not obey, I usually feel yucky. It might be fun at first, but the fun never lasts. I obey to show my love for Jesus and Heavenly Father. I know that when I choose the right, it keeps me safe. I am glad that we have commandments that help us to be happy.
