Over the years I’ve collected a random mix of luggage pieces in all colors and sizes. We’re about to depart on a BIG adventure as a family, so I’ve been taking stock of our collection. Most of our luggage pieces have some defect … broken zipper, stuck handle, stiff wheel. Very frustrating.
In the next two months, we’ll be driving approximately 4,500 miles across the country (and back) to visit family, moving to Washington DC and then eventually departing on international postings for my husband’s new job. Bottom line – luggage will be a HUGE part of my reality!
Atlantic’s offer to test drive their luggage couldn’t have come at a better time! I received the gorgeous Lumina Hardside Spinner to try out. The exterior is a satin finish that is hard to describe, but is really attractive and durable. It’s 360 degree spinning wheels glide effortlessly, and I love that the retractable handle stops at different heigths to fit either me or my husband.
The best part of the Lumina is its interior though. It has this really useful separate compartment that zippers shut. For our upcoming trip, I packed seven days worth of clothes for my three kids in the main compartment (with room to spare), and then put all their random shoes, belts, swimwear, etc. that I wanted to keep separate in the zippered compartment.
I can see so many uses for this zippered area … pack dirty clothes in there from the trip, keep chlorine filled swim suits separated from other clothes and/or put hair appliances, makeup and toiletries together in there. It’s by far my favorite feature of the luggage!
Another very useful feature of the Lumina luggage is how lightweight it is. I pride myself in being able to pack a suitcase very, very tightly. However, the airline weight limit gets in my way. So having a suitcase that doesn’t eat into the total weight much is a huge selling point for me.

Husband travels a lot for work and then when we want to go somewhere together, the luggage always has a broken zipper or busted wheel or handle…new one would certainly be put to good use!

Well Ive never had any real luggage other than a duffel bag and my back pack and I would be so grateful for a nice set like the one being offered up as the prize. My wife loaned out her biggest rolling suitcase to a friend who was headed on a trip home. On the trip one of the wheels broke off! Now it doesn’t get used because it is hard to wheel it with just one wheel!

Taking our first family vacation in years this summer and our luggage is old!! Most trips consist of visiting family, but this one is just for us to have fun and relax!!

I love those wheels! You know, they make a grand difference to me. We were fortunate enough that all the planets aligned one time and we both got a big piece of Samsonite with wheels like that. They are huge bags and I can literally move them with a finger – in the direction I want them to go! To have a carry-on which was just as nice? That would be heavenly!
I need one because I have to use shopping bags when I go anywhere.

I have my original luggage that I received for my high school graduation in 1990. And no one else in my family has real luggage. I’d love to say “farewell” to our ratty duffel bags.
