Hey again, it’s Tonii from Blue Skies Ahead! I am so thrilled to be back at Or so She Says…sharing another fun family night idea! I don’t know about you…but I LOVE the start of a new year. A clean slate, a chance to do anything you want and start fresh! I was really excited to do a simple activity with my kids to help them learn about goals and have fun making a visual that we could focus on ALL year long to remember what we want to accomplish in 2014.
First up I made this printable to hang in our home. I love this quote and have found it to be so true in my personal life. There is so much power in simply believing in ourselves!
Whether you think you can or can’t Printable
After we talked a lot about what goals are and how important it is to try things, even if they are hard for us, we decided to make some goals of our own for the coming year. I whipped up this super fun New Year’s Resolution Printable that we filled out and now have hanging in our kitchen to remind us of all the things we want to accomplish this next year.
In the middle square I had each of the kids cut out a picture of themselves and glue it on. Then they filled out each box with things they wanted this year.
The boxes say:
This year I want to learn…
This year I want to go…
This year I want to become…
This year I want to give…
This year I want to see…
This year I want to try…
It was so fun sitting down with my kids and hearing the things THEY want to do this year. I also liked these goals because they weren’t just focusing on things they will check off a list…they focused on what my kids could give and who they could truly try to become.
There were some really great answers too! My 8 year old has the sweetest little heart, and she wants to give happiness in 2014 🙂
My 2 year old pretty much just had fun gluing on her picture and scribbling on her paper 😉
My 6 year old wants to give the gift of Jesus and my 4 year old wants to become Superman…pretty awesome goals, I say!
Overall, I think the kids had a great time thinking about this next year and I LOVE that they have a visual hanging up in our home to remind them of all the things they can choose to become in 2014!
I hope you all had a wonderful time ringing in the new year with your family and thanks so much for having me 🙂
