Honey Granola … An Easy Snack (she: Christina)

It’s time to make New Year’s Resolutions. You know, I used to be on a resolutions strike. I thought, why just make goals once a year that I’m probably going to fail at within two weeks time? I will just try to set goals when the need comes up throughout the year. While this kind of makes sense to me still, I finally came around last year and realized that I can spend a little time at the beginning of the year to focus on where my life is going – maybe not just for the year, but in general, and make some plans around that. Looking back, did I actually accomplish more? I can honestly say YES. So, I will stop going against the grain on this one and jump on the bandwagon!

Maybe you are looking to eat healthier and more natural (less processed ). And maybe you are looking to be better with your budget. Well, here’s a simple recipe that can help you achieve both of those goals. Do I have your attention? Well, keep reading then.

Peanut Butter Banana Green Smoothie (she: Sam)

Ever since becoming a mother I have put my children and household first, and myself last on the list of things to take care of. But, I have come to the realization that taking care of myself is doing what’s best for my kids. That’s why I’ve decided to exercise at least three times each week and eat more good-for-you whole foods.
I’m sure many of you can relate to my situation. I mean … it’s really hard to get all of the fresh fruits, vegetables, and nutrients required to stay healthy; especially with little ones running around! That’s why many of my meals (especially lunches) end up being of the smoothie variety…

Christmas Quiche with Snowflake Crust (she: Jana)

I’ve been looking for a great breakfast idea for Christmas morning. Something easy, because I have always been a no big meals on Christmas day kind of gal…who wants to spend their Holiday in the kitchen cooking all day? I love cooking/baking and all, but on this day I just want to spend my time hanging with the fam!

So, when I saw this post that had 7 amazing pie crust designs I started thinking. That can be dangerous at times! HA! Anyway, I thought I’d whip up a beautiful Christmas Quiche with a beautiful snowflake crust (inspired by the Lovely Lace crust) that can be made the day before Christmas so that on Christmas morning all you have to do is bake and serve!

Holiday Spice Monkey Bread (she: Gina)

In our house Christmas morning can be pretty busy. I’m sure it’s like that in most households. The kids get up, we have some family time & open gifts. Sometimes we get together with friends & once in a great while we travel to be with family.

This year will be quiet & I am so looking forward to it. The chaos has lessened now that the kids are older. However- one thing has not changed, the need to have something wonderful on hand for breakfast on Christmas morning.

Bacon Apple Cheddar Biscuits (she: Cathy)

These biscuits are soft, buttery, cheesy, and loaded with the delicious flavors of apple and bacon. They come together in a saucepan in just minutes, you bake them in muffin tins, and they make the perfect accompaniment to any dish. Namely turkey, or potatoes, or cranberries, or stuffing, or salad…! As for the theme, I’m thinking bacon! Can you really go wrong??

Come check out this delicious recipe for yourself!

Easy Crepes… whip them up in no time! (she: Maria)

Hello Everyone! This is Maria from Shopgirl coming over to share another recipe with you today! Crepes are one of my absolute favorite things to eat, both sweet and savory ones, so I’m super excited to share this recipe with you today! It takes a little bit of practice to learn how to make the perfect crepe (and the first one or two of every batch I make are never perfect!), but it’s a cooking skill well worth learning because they are so good, and so quick to whip up! All you need are a couple of ingredients whisked together, and a couple minutes to make the crepes! You can serve them sweet for a big breakfast or dessert, with some berries, ice-cream and whipped creme or with Nutella and bananas (one of my favorites!), or savory with a whole variety of fillings…. some of my favorites being spinach or mushroom

Raspberry Lemon Bread with Glaze (she: Zainab)

Hello OSSS friends…it’s Zainab from Blahnik Baker here again to share with you a delicious, sweet, raspberry lemon bread recipe.
This raspberry lemon bread is made with white whole wheat flour and hazelnut flour. The nutty flavor and texture of hazelnuts are incredible with fresh raspberries. The amount of oil used is less than most recipes out there and this uses Greek yogurt for added moisture. This summer bread is everything a great sweet bread should be; so moist, crumbly and delicious. The lemon glaze to go with it is just the perfect added tang.

Raspberry White Chocolate Muffins

Alright, so I was thinking ‘summer.’ Then, I was thinking ‘food.’ Then I was thinking ‘nachos… the greasy gas station kind.’ Then I went and changed a diaper, did a load of laundry, and buzzed the heads of two children. Then I remembered what I was supposed to be thinking about… a post for you! Something summer, easy, kid-friendly… how about Raspberry White Chocolate Muffins?? I’ve had this recipe saved in an old Taste of Home magazine for a while now, so who better to share the deliciousness with than you? I looooooove raspberries. Love. And, these were delicious! Perfect for a summer breakfast.

Whole Wheat No-Knead Bread Recipe (she: Maria)

Hello, Everybody! This is Maria from Shopgirl stopping by again to share a recipe with you! I’m so excited to share this recipe with you today, because I’ve been trying out and tweaking so many different bread recipes over the past couple of months, and this one is one of my favorites! I have made a couple variations of this whole wheat no-knead bread, and this version has great texture and flavor, and would be perfect to go along with some soup or a big salad in the summertime! What I love most about this recipe is not only that you don’t need to knead it, but that you simply mix all the ingredients in a bowl, cover it and let the dough sit for about 12 – 20 hours and then just bake it off and you have a beautiful loaf of bread! I usually prepare the dough in the evening and let it sit all night and then bake it in the morning. Here’s how you make it…

Disney World's Tongan Toast

Disney World’s Tongan Toast ~ Knock-off!

I haven’t been to Disney World since I was a little girl. I actually have a funny memory from being there too. I was probably in 7th grade and decided I needed to trim my own bangs. Big mistake. I cut a little off, crooked. Tried to fix it, crooked. Kept cutting and cutting, until they ended up being insanely mega-nerd short. Not to mention, they were probably an inch thick. That beautiful moment of my life fell right during our family vacation where I had to be seen by thousands of people and be the subject of dozens of my mom’s photos. I was super grumpy about it. Probably deserved a big kick in the butt… being grumpy at Disney World. Who does that?

Well, I can’t remember if I ever had the Tongan Toast, but I’m sure if I had, I might have been a little more pleasant, cause this stuff is awesome!
