Grandma’s Amazing English Toffee (she: Kara)

Hi my name is Kara (friend and neighbor to the talented Mariel) I am a SAHM to 3 girls and one boy and wife to my handsome hubby! I love the month of February! I love the “love is in the air” feeling, the cute decorations, the color pink, giving my favorite people something special, and the yummy treats!

February also reminds me of my sweet Grandma that recently passed away. She was one of the most loving and positive people I knew. I have great memories of going to her house and eating the yummy candy she would make for holidays. One of my families favorites is her English Toffee.

disneyland's 60th anniversary

Disneyland’s 60th Anniversary Sneak Peek (she: Kimberly)

Hey Everyone, it’s Kimberly from Packed with Fun, the official blog for Get Away Today. If you’ve read my posts before, you know that we LOVE Disneyland. And if you haven’t heard, this is a big year for the Disneyland Resort. It’s Disneyland’s 60th Anniversary and it’s going to be amazing! I was lucky enough to be invited to a special sneak peak a couple of weeks ago and wanted to share a little bit of what’s coming with you.

First of all, the event will kick-off May 22, 2015 and it’s going to be huge. For starters, since it’s Disneyland’s Diamond Celebration, Sleeping Beauty’s Castle and the Carthay Circle Theatre are getting diamond makeovers. When I was there, the castle was being worked on around-the-clock and although it was a little sad to see sheets and scaffolding, the final result will be well worth it.

garage door heart attack

Garage Door Heart Attack (she: Brooke)

I heard about a garage door heart attack many years ago from Alisa Bangerter on Studio 5 (a local lifestyle show here in Utah). She had a whole list of fun valentine activities for the family. This particular activity really caught my attention because it was like nothing I’d ever tried before. I had done a heart attack on a front door and bedroom door before, but never hanging from a garage door. I did it for my husband that Valentine’s Day, and it was a big success! This is the perfect activity to do for husbands/dads on Valentine’s Day because they’re usually the ones coming home at the end of the day, and opening the garage. And when they do, they’re greeted with a cheery assortment of dangling hearts with love messages on them. So fun!!

Date Your Spouse – Conversation Prompts For Your Next Date (she: Heather)

Remember when you first met and went on dates with your spouse? When you could talk for hours about hopes and dreams and nonsense?

Do you ever go out with your spouse and find that all you talk about now are your kids? Or your family problems and worries? Or maybe you struggle to find something to talk about at all?

Kids and stresses and struggles are important to talk about, but not on our dates. Dates are hard to come by in the first place. They should not be laden with worries. They should be filled with laughter, love, and lots and LOTS of hand holding.

I know what you’re thinking, “If we can’t talk about kids, and struggles, what do we talk about then?”

Here is a list of things you can talk about when you date your spouse. Whether you use them during your Valentine date, or any other date you go on with your spouse. Whether you stay in, or go out, whether it’s in February or any other month of the year, print the list, take it with you and you’ll have plenty to talk about.
