Once upon a time, I would have considered myself a crafter … but then I had kids. Life got crazy busy, and I admit that I’ve lost touch with all the cool crafting trends and products that are out there. I’m also on a tighter budget then I was in my single-crafting days. So, I […]
Anyone with a little girl NEEDS to know how to do this Princess Twist Hairdo! It’s super simple, fast and everyone will be asking you how you did it. It’s also one of those rare hairdos that works on every length, thickness and texture of hair. It’s especially great for little girls with short pieces of hair at the hair line because the pieces only have to reach a short distance to get twisted into the ‘do! It’s the first hairdo that I was able to do on my girls when they were babies, and it’s still a favorite now that they’re school age. I get asked constantly how I did it on their hair, so I thought I’d just show you all today!
“Music is a more potent instrument than any other for education.” — Plato
I’ve always loved a good quote, and this is one of my new favorites! Music is so important, and I’m so grateful that I married a man who LOVES music and that all three of my kids love to listen to music and “shake it” whenever possible. I’m always on the look out for new “kid” music that won’t make me want to go hide in a sound proof closet. You know … something that will keep the kids happy while we’re riding in the car but that I won’t mind having stuck in my head all day!
So, I was very excited to get the chance to review Bobbi Hansen’s CD, “We Are Amazing!” The testimonials online from educators, parents and even kids were glowing!
Is that not the cutest logo you’ve seen in a long time!?! I love, LOVE it, and I LOVE all the fun deals (I mean “steals”) that get featured daily on Sassy Steals! In preparation for this giveaway, I signed up for their daily email featuring all their new steals. I’ve actually really enjoyed opening up my Sassy Steals email each day to see the crazy, fun and unique things that are offered. There’s stuff for me, my kids and my home … all in one place!
Once upon a time, there was no Pinterest, or Facebook, or Internet and the only good household tips I knew were passed down from my mom or good friends. But not anymore! Now I’ve got a Pinterest board packed with cool household tips and tricks! I’ve tried many of them, and thought I’d share a few of my favorites … most are from Pinterest, but a few came to me the old fashioned way!
1. Clean Pee Stained Mattresses – This post has literally changed my life! I have three young children who manage to pee, poo and/or spew on their mattresses on the rare occasions they aren’t covered by their mattress covers. Right after the first major pee incident, I literally ran to the computer to see how we could salvage the mattress. The whole family sat around the mattress (after I applied the “magic” potion) and watched the yellow stain disappear. It is that good!
2. Get Grease Stains Out – This tip comes from one of our awesome ‘Or she she says …’ contributors, Veronica. She’s got nine kids, so she knows a thing or two about laundry. She promised me that if I rubbed Dawn (only use this brand) dish soap on the grease spot(s) and then sprayed it with my favorite stain remover that the stain would be gone, even if the item had been previously washed and dried. I have tried this trick on super old, set-in stains and it has yet to disappoint!
Christmas will be here before we know it … sounds crazy, I know, when the weather is hot and we’re all thinking more about sunscreen than Santa. However, I’m a big believer in snatching up Christmas gifts as I come across them, regardless of the time of year. I have a gift box I keep in my closet, and I keep a running list of gift ideas for family and friends. I find that makes the Christmas season much less stressful.
Well, I just added this beautiful cookbook from The Gathering of Friends to the top of my gift list! It will make a perfect gift for my mother-in-law and some of the classy ladies in my life who love to entertain. Not only is the cookbook packed full of doable, yet classy recipes and simple centerpiece and tablescape ideas, it also comes complete with a shopping list of everything you’d need to replicate the meals yourself.
Is anyone else getting a little overwhelmed by the myriad of daily deal sites that are popping up? Don’t get me wrong, I love sitting on my couch shopping for great deals in my pjs, but they all start to look similar after awhile. But there’s one site that stands out from the rest … Buffalo Lane. Why do they stand out? Because they specialize in only jewelry and accessories. That’s it. Just cute, trendy, unique jewelry and accessories.
Come check out my favorite finds from Buffalo Lane and enter to win an adorable Jade Boho Ring and a $50 dollar gift card!
I’m always on the look out for thoughtful and unique gifts that won’t break the bank as I have six siblings, their spouses, in-laws, good friends, etc. to think about around Christmas and birthdays. After awhile though, I start to run out of ideas. So, a couple of Christmases ago, I came across some deals that Vistaprint was offering and inspiration struck!
That year, my father-in-law received a photo calendar featuring photos of his three grandkids. My sister-in-law’s gift was a personalized t-shirt with caricatures of her, my brother and their cute kids (that I got to create myself)! And my dear friend, who is particularly hard to buy for, was the recipient of coordinating stationary, note cards and sticky notes with their family name and address on them…

I hate painting, always have! I hate the preparation, execution and clean up that come with painting. However, I love how a room can be transformed by a simple coat of paint.
I was lucky enough to buy a home that was mostly painted with bold colors I probably wouldn’t have chosen myself (because I’m a wimp), but that I love! I say mostly painted because the kids’ bedrooms and bathroom were painted white with that awful paint that builders use. I managed to slap some color on the kids’ rooms years ago, but the bathroom has remained white and boring. That is until last week!
