This post brought to you by Vaseline. The content and opinions expressed below are that of ‘Or so she says …’ My Vaseline “Healing Kit” arrived just in time! The temperatures have dropped here and my skin is starting to feel dry and itchy. I almost never use lotion, but that changes every winter. My […]
THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. CONGRATS TO THE WINNERS: MICHELLE PETERSON AND BECKY PETERS! I love family traditions, and I love things that draw me closer to Christ during the holidays. So I was so excited to learn about a wonderful family-run business that provides both with their beautiful 25 Days of Christ Ornament Kit! […]
THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. CONGRATS TO THE WINNER: JULIE OTT! How is it possible that Christmas is only seven weeks from today?!? Fortunately, I’m an early shopper and like to pick up gifts throughout the year as I see them. However, I always get close to Christmas and realize I don’t have enough ideas […]
For the last three or four birthdays at our house, I’ve thrown together some pretty lame cupcakes. I have no cake decorating skills, so cakes kind of intimidate me. Honestly, so do cupcakes. I’m always worried I’m either over or under filling the liners as they go in the oven. Then I’m never sure how […]
I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t looking for ways to make my hair look fuller and thicker! I’ve tried everything from back-combing, to texturizing to coloring my hair just to try and make it look like I have more than I actually do. And to add insult to injury, my hair has started falling out more aggressively as I get older. So, when I had a chance to review Hairfinity Hair Vitamins, I jumped on it!
If you’ve ever lived outside of America, you know there are many things from home that you start to miss. Imagine being part of the many deployed troops who live in remote locations for extended periods of time with almost none of the comforts of home. Some of our readers may not have to imagine what that would be like. But for the rest of us, it’s something we can only begin to understand. However, we can ALL help make remote operating bases more enjoyable by supporting Marie Callender’s Comforts From Home Project – “a program dedicated to bringing the heartwarming feelings, flavors, and favorites of home to those who miss it most.”
I grew up going with my family to a department store portrait studio every year throughout my childhood. My memories of this annual event include sitting in the waiting room while my five brothers fought, the photographer’s awed expression as he tried to figure out how to fit ALL nine of us in the shot, my baby sister crying while the photographer begged my other siblings to look at him, not the baby … I could go on! While I love looking back at our family portraits through the years, it’s not a tradition I’ve continued with my family. I prefer more relaxed family portraits taken anywhere but in a studio. It never occurred to me to have our next family portrait session in our home, but I love the idea! And after watching all the lessons including in Craftsy’s FREE Professional Family Portraits Class, I feel confident enough to try it!
I was so excited to get some of your comments on my last Craftsy review saying how much you’re enjoying these classes! I am loving them as well, and I’m so excited to finally be learning some things that I’ve wanted to know for a very long time. Today I get to introduce you to […]
Who knew there was so much to know about knives and how to use them?!? I seriously have learned more in the last 40 minutes or so from this free, online Complete Knife Skills class from Craftsy then I ever expected! My in-laws gave us a great set of knives early on in our marriage, but I had no […]
After being on the road for most of the summer, it’s been really nice to finally get settled back into making regular home cooked meals. Rather than order pizza (again), the kids and I recently decided to make our own at home. Some of you may be home-cooked pizza experts, but this was a first […]
Over the years I’ve collected a random mix of luggage pieces in all colors and sizes. We’re about to depart on a BIG adventure as a family, so I’ve been taking stock of our collection. Most of our luggage pieces have some defect … broken zipper, stuck handle, stiff wheel. Very frustrating.
In the next two months, we’ll be driving approximately 4,500 miles across the country (and back) to visit family, moving to Washington DC and then eventually departing on international postings for my husband’s new job. Bottom line – luggage will be a HUGE part of my reality!
My oldest daughter will be finishing up her first year in public school in just over a week!! It’s so hard to believe that this school year is already over. She’s grown by leaps and bounds in so many areas, but especially in reading. She has learned to love reading, and I want to encourage that passion and keep her learning even through the summer months. It’s hard to know exactly how to do that without her getting frustrated or feeling like it’s just another “chore.”
Well, I’ve found an amazing solution for fun summer education … Brain Chase!
