Hi everyone, it’s Kimberly with Get Away Today, here to talk to you about Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort. Yes, you read that right! Disneyland recently released their 2018 Halloween Time dates, and I want to make sure you’re ready for all the fun. With spooky décor, seasonal treats and boo-tiful ride overlays, Halloween is one of the best times to visit for a reason. Since we can’t wait for the spook-tacular celebration to begin, we’re giving you everything you need to know about Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort in 2018.
Everything You Need to Know about Halloween Time
When is it?
Guests who are looking to have a frightfully good time will be able to experience Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort from September 7th through October 31st, 2018. This is the earliest the celebration has ever begun! When you visit during these dates, you’ll be able to experience all of the Halloween Time festivities. However, it’s important to note that Mickey’s Halloween Party is a separate event. If you’re wanting to splurge on Mickey’s Halloween Party, keep reading for more information about Mickey’s Halloween Party dates, pricing and more below.
Although Halloween seems far away, Disneyland Halloween will be right around the corner before we know it. Since this is one of the most popular times of year, hotel deals and ticket specials can sell out fast. Because of this, I highly recommend you take advantage of Get Away Today’s Layaway Plan. When you book using our flexible Layaway Plan, taking a Disneyland vacation is more affordable than ever. For just $175 down, you can take advantage of our hotel and ticket specials for September and October. The best part? You don’t need to pay everything off until five days before travel.
What to Expect for Halloween Time 2018
Whether you’re planning your first Halloween Time Disneyland vacation or you’re the “Master of Scare-emonies”, there is a lot you should know before you visit the most “Spook-tacular Place on Earth.” No matter what you decide to do, there will be something for everyone in the family to enjoy.
Halloween Time Characters
If you’re looking for unique character experiences, Halloween Time is the perfect time to visit. Here, you’ll be able to see Mickey and the gang dress up in ghoulish garb. While we aren’t sure what costumes they’ll debut this year, we’ve seen Mickey as a bat, Minnie as a gypsy, Daisy as a witch, Goofy dressed up as a ghost and more. These make for perfect photo ops to remember your autumnal vacation forever.
Plus, you’ll also be able to meet some of your favorite notorious Disney villains. During Halloween Time, you can meet characters like Jack Skellington, Sally, Cruella De Ville and more. While there is never a guarantee that you’ll be able to meet these characters, we always recommend downloading the official Disneyland app. On the app, you can see what characters are located where and at what time. This way, you’ll be able to meet all of the wicked villains.
Disneyland Park
In Disneyland Park, you’ll be able to experience more Halloween Time celebrations than ever before. In addition to all of the seasonal décor, you’ll be able to take a picture in front of the famous gigantic Mickey pumpkin on Main Street U.S.A. This always makes for a fun and memorable photo that you’ll be able to treasure forever.
In addition to the Mickey pumpkin, guests will also be able to enjoy the Pumpkin Festival. Up and down Main Street U.S.A., you’ll be able to see hundreds of unique pumpkins that are hand carved every year. When you visit, make sure you take some time to view these “boo-tiful” jack-o-lanterns.
Speaking of Jack, you won’t want to miss your opportunity to see the Haunted Mansion attraction transform into Haunted Mansion Holiday. This attraction is themed after the beloved Disney classic, “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and features Jack Skellington and his ghoulish friends. You’ll love the nostalgic music and appearances from some of your favorite ghosts and monsters in this seasonal ride-overlay.
In addition to the Haunted Mansion Holiday, you’ll also be able to experience a new version of Space Mountain. At Space Mountain – Ghost Galaxy, you can brave the haunted cosmos while racing through the outer space. While this is a fun twist to the beloved ride, this attraction could scare smaller children.
Another fun thing to check out in Disneyland Park is the Día de los Muertos celebration in Frontierland. Here, you can enjoy Mexico’s annual homage to family with inspired food, music, crafts and more. While this festivity hasn’t been confirmed for 2018 quite yet, we’re keeping our fingers crossed!
Disney California Adventure Park
Luckily, the frightful fun doesn’t end in Disneyland. Guests can also celebrate tricks and treats in Disney California Adventure Park too. Not only will Oogie Boogie be greeting guests into the park, but Buena Vista street will be filled with seasonal décor and a 10-foot-tall statue of the Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow haunting Carthay Circle.
In addition to the ghoulish fun, you can also experience Radiator Springs in a whole new light. Cars Land will be transformed into Radiator Screams, which will give guests the opportunity to experience the Hallwoeen celebration like never before. Here, you’ll be able to enjoy “jack-oil-lanterns”, metal cob webs, ghostly folk art and spooks around every corner. Plus, you’ll be able to see your favorite Cars characters dress up for all of the fun too! Last year, Lightning McQueen sported a superhero outfit, while Tow Mater dressed up in vampire garb.
While you’re there, be sure to check out two new holiday themed ride-overlays in Cars Land, Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween and Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree. Here, guests will be able to twirl and sing along to Halloween music and creepy beats at fan-favorite attractions.
If you’re looking for a spine-chilling attraction, you won’t want to miss Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark. Here, you’ll help Rocket on his mission to find Groot and escape The Collector’s Fortress. However, proceed with caution! You might run into mysterious creatures roaming around at night. You can ride this attraction once the sun sets each evening during Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort. Since this ride is incredibly popular, you’ll want to make sure to get a FastPass as soon as you enter the park.
Mickey’s Halloween Party
Of course, one of the highlights of Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort is Mickey’s Halloween Party. At this separate ticketed event, you’ll be able to see Disney Halloween magic come to life! Here, you can experience the ultimate family night out with exclusive entertainment, fireworks and trick-or-treat stations scattered throughout Disneyland Park. Watch the Headless Horseman ride again in the Frightfully Fun Parade and become spellbound by Halloween Screams Fireworks. Mickey’s Halloween Party is also the perfect opportunity to dress up in Halloween garb and go trick-or-treating for candy and healthy goodies. Plus, both Disney villains and characters will be decked out for the party as well.
