Hi everyone, it’s Kimberly from Get Away Today here to talk to you about Disneyland. Typically, I talk about the best tips and tricks for your family when traveling to The Happiest Place on Earth. But, what better way to start off the new year than taking a vacation to Disneyland with your favorite gal pals? Taking a trip with friends is a popular travel trend and it’s no surprise as to why. Eating delicious food, riding your favorite attractions and shopping without having to push around a stroller? Sign me up! Because of this, I’ll be giving you my ultimate Disneyland girls trip guide, so you can plan the perfect vacation with your BFF’s.
Ultimate Disneyland Girls Trip Guide
Hotels
Your first step in planning the ultimate Disneyland girls trip is to find a hotel. Because finding the perfect place for multiple people can be tricky, I’ve placed some of my favorite recommendations below:
Springhill Suites at Anaheim Resort Convention Center
First things first, I ALWAYS recommend sharing a suite when planning your girls trip. Not only will you be able to spend quality time together, but you can save quite a bit of money by splitting the cost.
If you’ve ever stayed at a Springhill property, you’ll know why this is one of my top recommendations. This hotel has spacious suites that can sleep up to six, plus a free hot breakfast buffet every morning. The best part? This property has a roof-top pool with a view of the Disneyland fireworks. Instead of fighting for a spot on Main Street, U.S.A., you can head up to the rooftop with your girlfriends for an unforgettable experience.
Residence Inn at Anaheim Resort Convention Center
Like the Springhill, the Residence Inn at Anaheim Resort Convention can sleep up to six people. Not only is your room spacious, but it also comes with an in-room kitchen. Plus, they even offer a free grocery shopping service to make sure you have everything you need. With a free daily breakfast, roof-top pool and a location less than 1 mile away from the park, it’s no surprise as to why this is one of my favorite hotels for the ultimate Disneyland girls trip.
Staybridge Suites by Holiday Inn
Staybridge Suites hotels are great if you’re looking for a little more privacy. While you’re all still sharing one room, the Staybridge provides you with separate bedrooms. Plus, with four suite options, you’re sure to find a room that will fit everyone’s needs. The Staybridge Suites by Holiday Inn also has a complimentary breakfast buffet and manager receptions on select nights. This means you’ll be able to have both your breakfast and dinner taken care of! It also doesn’t hurt that the Staybridge Suites frequently has free night specials, to help you save even more.
Disneyland Resort Hotels
If you truly want to have the ultimate Disneyland girls trip, you may want to consider staying at one of the Disneyland Resort Hotels. Whether you choose the Paradise Pier, Disneyland Hotel or Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, you’re sure to experience more magic than ever before. Plus, this could be the perfect excuse to pamper yourself at the Mandara Spa inside of Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel!
Shopping
No Disneyland girls trip would be complete without a little bit of shopping. Luckily, Downtown Disney has plenty of places to browse! Some of my favorite shops located in Downtown Disney are Curl Surf, Sanuk, Sephora and the World of Disney store. While you’re there, you can even grab some matching Minnie Ears or Disney spirit jerseys to wear for cute photos in the park!
If you’re looking to shop till’ you drop, you’ll definitely want to check out The Outlets at Orange. This outlet mall is only about a 10-minute drive from the Disneyland Resort and is filled with restaurants, shops and entertainment. With stores like Gap, H&M, Forever 21, Nordstrom Rack, NIKE Factory Store, Victoria’s Secret and more, you’ll be able to find exactly what you’re looking for.
Dining
Character Dining
Who says that Character Dining is just for kids? A Disneyland girls trip is the perfect opportunity to feel like a kid again. Taking pictures with your favorite characters and enjoying a delicious meal with your best friends sounds like a great time to me!
Lamplight Lounge
At the all-new Pixar Pier, guests can now enjoy the Lamplight Lounge. This restaurant took over the beloved Cove Bar, but is quickly becoming a fan-favorite. This more “adult” hang-out spot serves California gastro-pub inspired food and drinks, sure to be a hit with everyone in your group. The Lamplight Lounge also has INCREDIBLE views of Paradise Bay, which makes it a great spot to end your day. Since the Lamplight Lounge is gaining popularity, we recommend trying and get dining reservations 60 days in advance. Be sure to try the Lobster Nachos and Donuts, I promise you won’t regret it!
Fine Dining
A Disneyland girls trip should be all about pampering yourselves, which is why we recommend doing at least one deluxe dining experience. Whether it’s dining with the Pirates at the Blue Bayou, or taking a step back in time at Carthay Circle, you should indulge in one night of fine dining with your girlfriends.
Photo Spots
Of course, you’ll want to make sure to take pictures of your Disneyland girls trip to remember how much fun you had. Because of this, here a few of my favorite photo spots in both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park:
Disneyland Park:
- Sleeping Beauty’s Castle – Main Street, U.S.A.
- Blue Wall by “it’s a small world” – Fantasyland
- King Arthur Carrousel – Fantasyland
- Teacup Photo Spot – Fantasyland
- Character Appearances – Various spots around the park
Disney California Adventure Park:
- Hollywood Blvd. Mural – Hollywood Blvd.
- Pixar Pal-A-Round – Pixar Pier
- Radiator Springs – Cars Land
- Monsters Inc. Mural – Hollywood Land (Outside of Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!)
Festive Celebrations
While a vacation to Disneyland is fun anytime of year, there’s always an extra touch of magic when you visit during events. Here are just a couple of times of year to consider when traveling with your friends:
Food and Wine Festival
If your friends are foodies, you won’t want to miss one of the year’s most popular events. From March 1 – April 23, 2019, you and your gal pals will be able to eat and drink your way through California inspired kiosks. With dozens of items to choose from, you won’t know where to start! Plus, this event has cooking demonstrations, live musical performances and more.
90s Nite
Whether you’re a 90s kid, or simply loved this decade, you and your friends won’t want to miss out on this ticketed event. This 90s packed party will be filled with nostalgic décor, rare character encounters, an exclusive fireworks extravaganza, 90s swag and more! With so much to do, you won’t want to miss out on this separate ticketed event.
Halloween and Holidays
Halloween Time and Holidays at the Disneyland Resort are some of the most magical times to visit. Starting in mid-September to October 31, 2019, you and your friends can experience all of the frightful fun during Halloween Time. However, if you’re looking for something more festive, you can experience Holidays at the Disneyland Resort from mid-November, 2019 to early January, 2020. No matter when you and your friends choose to travel, you’ll be able to experience limited-time ride overlays, dazzling entertainment and delectable treats.
