Crafting with candy is a sure fire way to get kids wanting to get creative. When candy is involved, I know my kids will be up for anything. 🙂 My son is a builder. He tells me that all he wants to do is build. Knowing his love for building (and candy) we used some Airheads candy to make a Snoopy Dog house.

Most of you know by now that I love blogging, crafting and sewing but what you may not know about me is that when I’m not doing those things, I am all about Preschool! I teach children ages 3-5 (such a fun age group right?!) with a focus on music and movement. I’m a also a huuuuuuuuge fan of Halloween! Fall is one of my favorite times of year. The weather cools down, school starts, candy corn and pumpkin pie become available for my consumption, and the leaves change! Though, with the weather getting colder I’ve found I’m looking for more and more ideas for keeping my little man entertained indoors. This week we’re going to give one of these adorable leaf crafts a try; I think he’ll have a lot of fun. Hopefully, your kids will enjoy them too!

Who remembers and loves color by number? Some of my earliest memories as a little girl are of me waking up WAY before my parents were wanting to, and my mom handing me the crayons and coloring books. I still remember my preschool-aged little self sitting in the dimly lit, quiet house coloring while everyone else slept. Funny how things stick with you. I’m still an early-riser, and I still LOVE to color!

I think that I am with almost all other crafters out there when I scream, from the mountain tops, how much I love the Target Dollar Spot. I mean, can you ever make it 20 yards in before getting sucked in, regardless of what you went in there for in the first place? They always have such cute, seasonal things to create with. A couple of weeks ago I was in there, and how on Earth I was even thinking about Valentine’s Day ideas at that moment is beyond me. But I saw all of those cute post-it notes and the mini pens, and it just happened.

I needed something cheap and easy for my little girl’s Kindergarten class, as far as Valentines go. So, I went roaming up and down the grocery store aisles, trying to think of something kids love. And, then I saw it. An entire bin filled with those nasty Kool-Aid drinks, that my kids are always begging for. They were in a six pack for just $1.25. That worked for me! Now, to just come up with a Valentine to go with them…I think I got it! Isabelle was so excited to bring them to her class and was hoping she would have a few left over, that she could guzzle later.

Today, I have a simple winter art activity you can do with your kiddos. My boys have been making this whimsical snow globe art project for years now, and for some reason I’ve never posted them before. I’m a bit of a snowflake fanatic, and so I try to squeeze in as many snowflake activities (check out our beautiful symmetrical snowflake art here) during the wintery month of January as I can.
The fun part about this art project is that each globe can be as individual as the creator. The globes are kind of like snowflakes themselves- no two are ever exactly alike. And they are incredibly easy to make!
