Cute Bun Hairstyles for Girls – Top 5 Picks!

These Top 5 Cute Bun Hairstyles for Girls will have you running for your combs and hairspray! These are some of our tried and true go-to styles for school mornings or playful weekends. As a kid I LOVED doing my sister and friends’ hair. I taught myself how to french braid on a doll, then graduated to my (poor guinea pig) sister, and I finally get to play with my daughter’s hair! Since she’s the only girl, she gets the full brunt of my love for all things hair.

5 novels for spring

5 Novels for Spring – Add These to Your Reading List! (she: Victoria)

Last month I shared some of my favorite reasons of why I love my local library so much. This month to go along with my favorite past time of reading, I wanted to share with you 5 novels for spring, which are some of my favorite books that I have personally read and loved over the years.

These are the novels that have stayed with me long after I turned the final page. The stories that made me disappointed to learn there was no sequel or continuation. That’s what makes a good story though, the development of characters and the words so well written, you feel like you are actually there taking part in the story yourself.

photographing the every day

Photographing the Every Day (she: Lindsay)

I’m dedicated to take every day photos to document the stories of our families. But that doesn’t mean I’m taking photos all day every day. It means I’m intentional and deliberate about the photos I do take. Aware of what type of photos I want and what type of photos help tell our story the best. Photographing the every day doesn’t have to be complicated or overwhelming. It can be simple, and an honest representation of our daily lives.
The things we do every day matter. They matter enough to pay attention to. And they certainly matter enough to photograph! Document your every day. And print it. And let your kids see how awesome you think they are because you care to document WHO they are and what they do!!

Library Lovers Month – Love Your Library (she: Victoria)

One of my absolute favorite places is the library. There is something so welcoming about being in a building with so many wonderful books and resources. I love getting lost among the never ending bookshelves searching for a forgotten treasure, or passing by other book lovers in search of just the right book.

February is a month that honors the beloved library and all those who use it on a regular basis. This month as we celebrated love, we also celebrate Library Lovers Month. Have you visited your local library lately? Chances are you may not know what you’re missing.

Photographing Kids – 10 Tips for Taking Successful Blog Pictures (she: Cami)

I often get asked how I get my kids to pose for pictures, especially when they are often for my blog. Children don’t generally love being asked to sit still and smile, or stand just a certain way while we snap picture after picture in their face. They would much rather be off playing, I assure you. The thing is, for general life capturing moments – it really is best to take pictures that represent the moment as best as we can. However, being a blogger, I am often after a certain shot and trying to showcase an item as best as I can on a wiggly, impatient child. Photographing kids like this can bring many challenges for the mommy behind the camera.

Hairfinity Review ~ Helping Hair From the Inside Out

Hairfinity Review ~ Helping Hair From the Inside Out

I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t looking for ways to make my hair look fuller and thicker! I’ve tried everything from back-combing, to texturizing to coloring my hair just to try and make it look like I have more than I actually do. And to add insult to injury, my hair has started falling out more aggressively as I get older. So, when I had a chance to review Hairfinity Hair Vitamins, I jumped on it!

Craftsy Review ~ FREE Professional Family Portraits Class

Craftsy Review ~ FREE Professional Family Portraits Class

I grew up going with my family to a department store portrait studio every year throughout my childhood. My memories of this annual event include sitting in the waiting room while my five brothers fought, the photographer’s awed expression as he tried to figure out how to fit ALL nine of us in the shot, my baby sister crying while the photographer begged my other siblings to look at him, not the baby … I could go on! While I love looking back at our family portraits through the years, it’s not a tradition I’ve continued with my family. I prefer more relaxed family portraits taken anywhere but in a studio. It never occurred to me to have our next family portrait session in our home, but I love the idea! And after watching all the lessons including in Craftsy’s FREE Professional Family Portraits Class, I feel confident enough to try it!
