Hello OSSS readers, this is Zainab from Blahnik Baker stopping in with another recipe today! I hope you all had a great summer. I can’t believe we are saying that already meaning summer is winding down. I’m sure most of you already have kids that are back in school and the new school year schedule is just starting to kick in. Or they are about to start next week after Labor Day weekend. Unbelievable how this particular summer flew by. I hope you got to do everything on your summer bucket list!!
I’m trying to get used to the new rhythm of school too as I start my last year of graduate school. It’s called fast-paced life and now more than ever I am in dire need of quick, nutritious and energy boosting breakfasts to keep up with my demanding days. I am sure most of you can relate to this. That’s why I always love reaching for smoothies. They are one of my favorite ways to get more fruits in my diet but with so many add-in possibilities, I can increase the nutritious value beyond just fresh fruits.
This black raspberry smoothie has a secret ingredient high in protein but low in fat. Can you guess what it is??
Easy Crepes… whip them up in no time! (she: Maria)
Hello Everyone! This is Maria from Shopgirl coming over to share another recipe with you today! Crepes are one of my absolute favorite things to eat, both sweet and savory ones, so I’m super excited to share this recipe with you today! It takes a little bit of practice to learn how to make the perfect crepe (and the first one or two of every batch I make are never perfect!), but it’s a cooking skill well worth learning because they are so good, and so quick to whip up! All you need are a couple of ingredients whisked together, and a couple minutes to make the crepes! You can serve them sweet for a big breakfast or dessert, with some berries, ice-cream and whipped creme or with Nutella and bananas (one of my favorites!), or savory with a whole variety of fillings…. some of my favorites being spinach or mushroom
Raspberry White Chocolate Muffins
Alright, so I was thinking ‘summer.’ Then, I was thinking ‘food.’ Then I was thinking ‘nachos… the greasy gas station kind.’ Then I went and changed a diaper, did a load of laundry, and buzzed the heads of two children. Then I remembered what I was supposed to be thinking about… a post for you! Something summer, easy, kid-friendly… how about Raspberry White Chocolate Muffins?? I’ve had this recipe saved in an old Taste of Home magazine for a while now, so who better to share the deliciousness with than you? I looooooove raspberries. Love. And, these were delicious! Perfect for a summer breakfast.
Giant Cinnamon Rolls ~ Perfect for Father’s Day! (she: Jana)
Hey friends! It’s Jana from Double the Deliciousness here today. I’m so excited to share these fabulous cinnamon rolls with you, and just in time for Father’s Day!
Who is still trying to decide what kind of goodie to make the Father in your life this weekend? Well, look no further! What man doesn’t like a good cinnamon roll? And a giant sized one at that? You can bring it to him in bed in the morning with a nice tall glass of milk, or save it for an after dinner dessert. Either way I’m sure he’ll love it!
Disney World’s Tongan Toast ~ Knock-off!
I haven’t been to Disney World since I was a little girl. I actually have a funny memory from being there too. I was probably in 7th grade and decided I needed to trim my own bangs. Big mistake. I cut a little off, crooked. Tried to fix it, crooked. Kept cutting and cutting, until they ended up being insanely mega-nerd short. Not to mention, they were probably an inch thick. That beautiful moment of my life fell right during our family vacation where I had to be seen by thousands of people and be the subject of dozens of my mom’s photos. I was super grumpy about it. Probably deserved a big kick in the butt… being grumpy at Disney World. Who does that?
Well, I can’t remember if I ever had the Tongan Toast, but I’m sure if I had, I might have been a little more pleasant, cause this stuff is awesome!

Swiss Muesli with Greek Yogurt and Berries (she: Ruthie)
Hi to all my friends at Or so she says!
It’s Ruthie from Whats Cooking with Ruthie and I’m SO happy to share a healthy, mouth-watering breakfast recipe with y’all today…
I love Swiss Muesli and this recipe has greek yogurt in it which is one of my favorites!
I’m currently enrolled in the Culinary Arts program at a local university and this recipe was given to me from one of my chefs who is from Austria, so you can believe me when I say that this recipe is fabulous 🙂
Overnight Chocolate Waffles with Strawberry Syrup (she: Jana)
Hey there Or So She Says readers! It’s Jana from Double the Deliciousness. I’m so excited to bring you one of my favorite, easy and amazingly delicious breakfast recipes today. Overnight Chocolate Waffles….yes, you read that right! And to top that off (literally) I have some delightful freshly made strawberry syrup. Chocolate and strawberry; a match made in heaven.
These are so great for busy mornings, or lazy mornings in my case…I’m so NOT a morning person! I’d way rather stay up an extra 10 minutes to make the batter and then sleep in an extra 10 minutes! In the morning heat up your waffle iron and cook away. The strawberry syrup can be made ahead of time as well, and can also be frozen. So when you find some strawberries on sale, stock up and make a whole bunch of strawberry syrup to freeze. Trust me, you’ll want a lot! These would also be a great Easter morning breakfast. One your whole family will love!
Lemon-Coconut Quick Bread (she: Cathy)
Hi there, friends! I’m so happy to be back here with you today, sharing this yummy Lemon-Coconut Quick Bread recipe! We love quick breads, especially for breakfast, and this one is just perfect for spring. It’s packed full of zesty lemon and toasted coconut and topped with a citrus honey butter that’s to-die-for. And best of all, my kids can’t get enough of it!
I find that homemade breakfast options usually go over better than packaged, which I guess is a good thing. The only problem is that I never know what be a favorite and what will be a flop! What I do know is that this bread was a FAVORITE! Not only did all three kids like it, they couldn’t get enough of it…..meaning it’s been gone for a while now. And I definitely need to make more of it!
Irish Soda Buttermilk Scones (she: Gina)
Happy March Everyone!!!
It’s Gina from Kleinworth & Co again! I’m back today with St. Patrick’s Day on my mind & ready to share one of my favorite Irish recipes. Do you like St. Patrick’s Day? How do you celebrate? My hubs always loves to have corned beef & cabbage. That’s his specialty. But I like to make a little something too – so I whip up these Irish Soda Buttermilk Scones to go on the side. The nice part about them is that they work well as a side to dinner & the leftovers make a great breakfast when paired with jam. These are so incredibly simple to make. No waiting for them to rise & bake time is only 20 minutes. You can literally whip these together while doing your other dinner prep. For breakfast I just heated the leftovers & spread a little Blueberry Freezer Jam on each bite. The kids loved it.
Southwestern Breakfast Bake ~ Easy & Hearty Breakfast
If I had to pick a favorite meal of the day, and dessert wasn’t an option, I would have to say breakfast. Most of my favorite recipes all fit in the breakfast category: Biscuits and Sausage Gravy, Buttermilk Pancakes, Cinnamon Rolls, Breakfast Fajitas, Butterscotch Bread Pudding… I could go on and on. I’m excited to add another new favorite breakfast recipe to my binder, Southwestern Breakfast Bake. Mmmmm! It was gooooood. I love the combo of everything in this dish… English muffins, sausage, green chilies, eggs, cheese… It’s super easy to make and can be refrigerated uncooked overnight, or baked immediately.
Peanut Butter Chocolate Banana Chip Granola (she: Zainab)
Hi everyone, I’m Zainab the baker behind Blahnik Baker. I’m so excited to be sharing with you this peanut butter chocolate banana chip granola recipe as a new contributor here on OSSS! But before we talk about food, I should probably tell you a little bit about myself.
I’m a newly wed graduate student who is teaching herself her way around making delicious desserts and treats! I didn’t grow up baking like most people and had never baked before attempting to make a V-day cake for my then-fiance a few years ago. It was not the prettiest but he loved it 🙂 Since that disastrous first cake making experience, I’ve been on a mission to teach myself the basics of baking and decorating. That’s how I fell in love with baking and making special treats for my friends and family.
During the day, I work on my PhD in Neuroscience and in my spare time/weekends, I’m a bake-a-holic and shoe-a-holic! I love making easy, simple to assemble yet beautiful everyday desserts. But why am I telling you about all the desserts I make and here sharing a healthy granola? Well, while I would love to be eating cupcakes and cakes for every meal, I don’t. I try to balance my diet with healthier recipes, like this peanut butter granola, for most meals so I can indulge later.
