‘Happy Birthday, dear family…’ ~ Celebrating Your Anniversary With The Kids!

Dan and I just celebrated our 13 year anniversary, on June 2nd. Yay!!! It happened to fall on a Sunday, the day we go to church, don’t shop, eat out, etc. So, we celebrated on Friday. It was super fun. We decided to get an overnight babsitter and do a little stay-cation in Ogden, just 10 minutes from our house. We found a great hotel, walked the historic streets, saw a flick, and ate way too much food. I loved it!

Anyway, so since we ended up being home on our actual anniversary, I started to think about how it’s sorta-like our family’s birthday…so, why not celebrate with the kids?? It was a last minute decision, so I didn’t have all the fixins I would have liked, but it still ended up being a wonderful night with the fam.

DIY Bug Jar Caddy ~ Fun Summer Craft! (she: Brooke)

We’re back with our talented group of 10 blogger besties to share June’s themed hop. Head on over to their blogs to see and save their projects after viewing ours. June’s theme is MASON JARS for this beautiful summer weather! Today we’re talking bugs. I have three boys under the age of six, and when summertime hits, they’re all about bugs. Rarely a day goes by in the summertime when I don’t hear, “MOM! GET A JAR QUICK!” (sound familiar?). At the end of last summer I decided I needed a place for just bug jars. I was dishing out all my good jars for bug houses. So, when Mariel told me the theme for June’s blog hop was Mason jars, I knew exactly what I wanted to do- finally make my bug jar caddy.

Educational BINGO ~ The Kids BEG to Play!

Educational BINGO ~ The Kids BEG to Play!

I know school is almost over for most of you, and although I intended this activity to be for homeschool, I can see us playing it all year long. It’s nothing fancy, just BINGO…awesome BINGO. I’ve always got my eye out for really great educational products for kids, and while browsing the daily Zulily deals, I saw these really neat BINGO sets for half off. They’re from Lucy Hammett Games and each set is based around a certain theme, like: birds, weather, wildflowers, oceans, body, butterfly, art, and soooo many more! You play it like you would any other BINGO game, but the kids are actually learning with these. Yay! Not only can they learn from the pictures alone, but on the back of each card is a little description/facts about what is on front.

The first time we played, we used jelly beans as the markers. Mistake. Nobody could keep them on the board and out of their mouths!

Valentine’s Love Potions ~ A Fun Family Game & Tradition

My kids love Valentine’s Day, almost as much as Christmas…which is pretty amazing, considering they only get some candy and a book for V-day.  But, every year they look forward to the treasure hunt, finding clues all over the house that lead them to candy, and eventually their new book.  It’s been such a fun…

Travel and Quiet Time Activities for Kids of All Ages

We just decided that we are going to take the kiddos and drive up to Washington (from Utah) to visit my brother-in-law.  That part sounds great, love the dude and his family.  But, the drive?  With 5 little kids??  I’m hoping for the best.  I know I’ve shared several posts with you before, with lots…

The Best Rated Kites For Kids! ~ A Fun Easter Tradition :)

I’m going to be hogging the blog this week.  I have too many Easter thoughts/ideas to share…sorry, guest bloggers…you can have next week 🙂 I’ve heard about several families who have the tradition of giving kites to their kids, in their Easter basket.  I think that’s a perfect idea!  My kids would love it.  So,…
