Building A Bow Like Nephi – Family Night Lesson (she: Adelle)

When faced with a job, chore, or trial, we can choose to be like Nephi. He was a man who would “Go and do.” He didn’t murmur or complain. Because he made a habit of being a man of action and faith his life was blessed with joy and prosperity. When we look at our wooden bows, we can remember to emulate the Nephi the Book of Mormon prophet.

Our Nauvoo Family Vacation, Part 2

… continued from Our Nauvoo Family Vacation, Part 1.

So, it took about 3 hours to drive from St. Louis to Nauvoo. We found a home to rent for the week on VRBO.com, right on the Mississippi River. The house was… so-so (ant infestation and the worst mattress ever) BUT, the location made it all worth it. It was just about a mile from historic Nauvoo, on a fairly secluded drive. One of my favorite things was going for a run along the river. There was nobody around, except a dozen vultures, it was so quiet and beautiful. I loved it!

Our Nauvoo Family Vacation, Part 1

For the longest time, my husband and I have been wanting to take our 7 kiddos on a family vacation to Nauvoo, Illinois. It’s been over 10 years since we have been there and I thought it was the perfect time to go again. I had just finished reading The History of Joseph Smith by His Mother to the kids, it was spring (less crowds and not so hot!), and we were due for a family vacation. And, let me tell you… it WAS the perfect time to go and the most PERFECT family vacation. Honestly, maybe my favorite one that we’ve ever done. The April weather was amazing. We practically had the whole town to ourselves. It was an awesome bonding experience, we learned a ton, and had some definite spiritual moments. I’m already anxious to go again!
