Summer Journal Fun – A Creative Way to Beat Boredom! (she: Veronica)

I have always loved writing in my journal and love going back and reading the things that I wrote as a little girl. I thought it would be fun to put together a summer journaling project that my kids could work on. I’m also a believer in creating our own personal histories. My kids are awesome, funny and creative, and I want them to be able to look back and see what they were like as kids. You don’t need to buy anything. You don’t need to keep track of a journal. You just have to print a page out when you’re ready for them to work on it and file it away when they’re done. Tah-dahhhh!! Easy!

Faith and A Family Planting Project – The Good Seed (she: Rachel)

I love the Biblical metaphor equating faith to a seed. It is scattered a few different places, but Matthew 13 expands on the concept well (check out Alma 32 if you use the Book of Mormon). Explaining faith as a seed is such a magnificent way to help children understand an abstract spiritual concept. Cultivating faith, indeed choosing faith, is an important value that I hope to pass on to my children.

Adelle has prepared yet another wonderful Family Night lesson for us! This one focuses on seeing the world through SON glasses.

Seeing the World Through “SON” Glasses Family Night Lesson (she: Adelle)

The way we view the world, situations, and our relationships ultimately determines our happiness. It is called perception. Have you ever heard the expression, “She looks at the world through rose colored glasses?” What does that mean? It means that a person looks at the world in a positive or “rosy” way. What if we looked at the world through Jesus, the Son of God’s, eyes? How would we view ourselves? How would we see others? Would it change the way we act and think? I believe it would.

Since my kids love helping in the kitchen, I thought it would be fun to let them help put together a fun and healthy snack. I had some yummy summer fruit in the fridge and decided fruit kabobs would be fun to make with the kids. I didn’t have any skewers but I had toothpicks, so mini fruit kabobs it would have to be. Casting Stones Family Night Lesson (she: Adelle)

One of the most important principles that Jesus taught his disciples was to love. We are not only to love our family and our friends, but to love all of God’s children. Even when they are different than us. Even when they do not act like we think they should. God loves us all so much, so we too must love and forgive each other–without judgement.
