Library Lovers Month – Love Your Library (she: Victoria)

One of my absolute favorite places is the library. There is something so welcoming about being in a building with so many wonderful books and resources. I love getting lost among the never ending bookshelves searching for a forgotten treasure, or passing by other book lovers in search of just the right book.

February is a month that honors the beloved library and all those who use it on a regular basis. This month as we celebrated love, we also celebrate Library Lovers Month. Have you visited your local library lately? Chances are you may not know what you’re missing.

Family Night Idea – Love is Contagious (she: Veronica)

Even though Valentine’s Day is over, the month of love is still going strong!! I thought it would be fun to share a quick and easy Family Night about love. Of course we love our families, but sometimes it’s good to be reminded! There is great power in loving each other. When love is shown, there tends to be more patience, forgiveness comes more easily and there will always be more joy in our home. Just by loving each other. SO EASY…yet so hard sometimes. I thought it would be fun to explain how contagious it is when we choose to love. It rubs off on everyone. Even your cranky teenagers can’t escape the effects of love. So…on to our Family Night!

Traveling with Kids Tips (she: Liz)

Hi there! It’s Liz again, from Liz on Call. My family and I just recently returned home from a trip to Disneyland! We had such a fun time and I can’t wait to see what Disney will reveal in celebration of their 60th Anniversary. I have 3 young children, and if you’ve even had to go on a road trip with one child, you know it has potential for disaster. Today I’m excited to be sharing some fun tips for traveling with kids.

Helping Your Family Keep New Year’s Resolutions (she: Heather)

I know, it is hard enough to keep your own personal resolutions and goals. Why would you want to set goals with your family too? Well, because setting goals together and working towards goals, brings us closer as a family. It builds unity, trust and is a great opportunity to teach our children skills and values.

Whether your family has a word of the year, sets resolutions, or you have goals that you want your family to work on this year, here are tips to help your family stick with those resolutions so you can improve and grow together.

52 Family Night Lessons for Every Week of the Year! (she: Mariah)

Happy New Year everyone! I hope all your resolutions are going well so far! Something that I want to be better at this year is having weekly family nights or family home evenings.

For those of you who don’t know what family home evening is, it’s basically a night where your family spends time with each other and they usually include a little lesson, an activity, and (if you’re lucky) a treat.

Christmas Quiche with Snowflake Crust (she: Jana)

I’ve been looking for a great breakfast idea for Christmas morning. Something easy, because I have always been a no big meals on Christmas day kind of gal…who wants to spend their Holiday in the kitchen cooking all day? I love cooking/baking and all, but on this day I just want to spend my time hanging with the fam!

So, when I saw this post that had 7 amazing pie crust designs I started thinking. That can be dangerous at times! HA! Anyway, I thought I’d whip up a beautiful Christmas Quiche with a beautiful snowflake crust (inspired by the Lovely Lace crust) that can be made the day before Christmas so that on Christmas morning all you have to do is bake and serve!

Have a grateful heart!! Get a full family night lesson on gratitude in today's post. www.orsoshesays.com #familynight #fhe #ldsblogger #churchofjesuschrist #familyfun

Family Night on Gratitude (she: Veronica)

Hello friends! It’s Veronica and I’m so happy to be back sharing another fun Family Night Activity. I’m always looking for fun new ideas on how to strengthen my family.

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, we’ve been talking a lot about gratitude. It’s very hard sometimes when I realize my children are growing up in a world of “entitlement.” I think it’s easier than ever before to be ungrateful and to not recognize all the amazing things in our lives.

Hey there! It’s Creative Carmella here to share some fun ideas to make the kids’ table at Thanksgiving fun! Send the troops out into the yard on a scavenger hunt, and they will find everything you need to decorate! This Thanksgiving kids’ table idea is nice because it gets the kids involved, but out of the house. So you can focus on getting all the yummy treats ready for your meal without worrying what they littlest guests are up to.

Family Game – “Shoveling Snow” (she: Heather)

Happy Monday OSSS readers! Heather here with a fun “snow” game for you and your family. For about the first two years of posting on my blog, FamilyVolley.com, I always posted a family game on Fridays. Hence the name of my book, Family Fun Fridays, named after the games that I posted weekly. Hands down, one of the games that has gotten the most attention is “Shoveling Snow.” You have all the resources you need, right in your house, and it will provide laughter and bonding to help your family come closer together and make memories too!

Pumpkin Carving Party Ideas {With 3 FREE Printables} (she: Brooke)

Happy October to you all! It’s Brooke from Blissful Roots. This is easily my favorite time of year! And while baby boy number four will be here in a matter of weeks, I’m still trying to squeeze in any Halloween crafting, baking, and partying that I can. We have our other three boys’ birthdays this week, so we’re in full party-mode around our house. I’m just hoping this little guy waits until after the big party to make his arrival. My four-year-old was very cordial five years ago, and waited until the day after my twins’ birthday to make his entrance into the world, so I’m crossing my fingers that will happen again (at LEAST the day after all the birthdays, even a few days later would be better!).
Today I have some fun pumpkin carving party ideas, and FREE printables to share with you. My dad’s side of the family has a fun pumpkin carving party every year, and we’ve only been able to make it a few times. I wish we could make it more often because we have the best time! Since we don’t make it to the family carving parties very often, I’ve decided it’s high time to start our own little jack-o-lantern making party. Here are a few of the ideas I’ve come up with for our party:

Finding family time during school

Finding Family Time During the School Year (she: Heather)

September already!? School bells have rung and any day now the leaves are going to start changing colors. Heather here, from FamilyVolley.com. I am excited to share with you some tips for finding family time, now that school is back in session.

A new school year means family life gets a little crazy and a lot busy, which means family time can easily go out the window. The question is, how can we focus more on family and less on the hectic lifestyle we are living?

I have eight suggestions for you and your kids that will help you find more quality family time during the school year. Some are simple, like establishing a set bedtime for everyone in the family, eating a meal together regularly, or reading together. Others, like limiting technology time every day as well as weekly extra-curriculars, may be a little more difficult. But I promise it’s worth it!
