Obol Review & Giveaway ~ Never Eat Soggy Cereal Again!!

A bowl, is a bowl, is a bowl – right?? Wrong!! The creators of the Obol have completely redesigned the standard bowl into something that is pure genius! This very sturdy and stable bowl is designed with an upper section to hold cereal (or anything else) and the bottom area holds the milk. You just swoop a bite from the top into the bottom area as you eat. Each bite stays crispy and delicious.

Three Easy Parenting Tips for 2014 (she: Heather)

If we want to have strong relationships with our children, we HAVE to spend time with them. Not just every once in a while, but research shows that we need to find at least 15 minutes a day to spend with each child on an individual basis. This is uninterupted time where we put our phones and computers and the laundry away and just focus on them. Get down on their level, look into their eyes and really listen to what they say. If you are wondering what you are going to do, sit down together and make a list of all the things that you could do. From baking cookies, to going for a drive, playing a game or just chatting about the day. Then when it is time to be together, you wont waste it trying to figure something out. Pick something on your list and have a good time. Your kids will feel supported, listened to, understood, and you will even see improvements in their behavior. You will find that a little time makes a big difference.

Goldilocks Valentine… A Fun Valentine Story For Kids (she: Brooke)

Your first year of teaching is a lot like having kids. You think you know what it’s like, but really you have no idea until you’re knee-deep in it every day. I was lucky enough to have Mrs. Lewis (my cooperating teacher) take my hand and guide me through every step of teaching my first year. She was so current, organized, loving, and amazingly creative! The Goldilocks Valentines and story I have to share today came from her. I’ve searched the internet for this story, and can’t find it anywhere. I don’t know if she made it up, (I’ve misplaced my original copy) or found it somewhere. Either way, this is one of my all-time favorite things to do for Valentine’s Day! My boys love to hear it year after year, and it would be the perfect activity for any valentine parties you have next week, or just to do at home with your kids.

Chai Spiced Scotch Shortbread (she: Allie)

How was your January? Mine was full of snow and dirty tissues, lol! Seriously, we’ve had so. much. snow this month! It’s been a record year here in the Philadelphia area. And now I am so pleased to finally be over the flu. Ugh! My older son brought it home from a birthday party a few weeks ago, and despite all my frantic attempts to clean every possible surface with disinfecting wipes, it only took a day and half before my other son and I were both knocked out with it. And it was a doozy! But things are finally returning to normal around here, or as close to it as we can get, when school is cancelled or delayed every few days!
Speaking of being snowed in, today’s recipe is just perfect for those kind of days. My boys love “helping” Dad shovel the snow from our driveway, and when they come back in all rosy-cheeked and bright-eyed, I love to be able to offer them a cup of hot cocoa to warm their tummies. This shortbread is such a lovely accompaniment!

These cookies are so buttery and melt-in-your-mouth tender…

The Ultimate Chocolate Cherry Cream Pie

It’s the time again! Welcome to the blog hop featuring 10 of our favorite creative bloggers. This month’s theme is RED. Because of my obsession with this Chocolate Cherry Fruit Dip, I thought it would be fun to alter the recipe to make it work for a pie… a Chocolate Cherry Cream Pie! So, I solicited my mom and we slaved away in the kitchen, making this recipe absolutely amazing. Paired with an Oreo Crust, okay… yum.

February Family Night…Sending the LOVE! (she: Tonii)

I am so excited to be back and sharing a great family night activity for one of my MOST favorite holidays…Valentine’s Day! Now I don’t know about you, but in our house Valentine’s Day has become a family affair 🙂 Don’t get me wrong, I love a romantic date with my hubby, but I am also not about to pass up a chance to spend the month of February teaching my kids how they can better show love in our family and to those around us!

Every year for Valentine’s I put out some cute little mailboxes I got from Target in the Dollar Spot. Once a day starting February 1st I put a little something in each of the kids’ mailboxes, anything from a note telling them something I love about them or a pencil and notepad. It has become one of our favorite traditions, and as I got them out this year I thought maybe we could use them to not only focus on receiving love…but SENDING some love out as well!

Valentine Spin Wheel Game (she: Darleen)

Hello, hello! My name is Darleen, and I am one of the new contributors here. I stay busy over at Darling Darleen and with my shop Darleen Meier Jewelry. I’m one of those people who likes to go all out for each holiday and birthday. I tell myself I’m doing it for my children, but I’m realizing it might really be for me! So, I’m excited to share with you a Valentine craft, or more specifically, a Valentine Spin Wheel game that your child can hand out in the classroom or as a favor for a V-day party. It’s an adorable Valentine, and it’s interactive! I’ve been wanting to create a spin wheel game for a while. And Valentine’s Day couldn’t be better for it! It brings back childhood memories from spin wheels I used to cut out off the back of cereal boxes. We tested this game out with a little neighborhood valentine party, and all the kids had a good laugh.
