Family Night Fun: How to Create a Strong Family (she: Veronica)

ByVeronica

We’ve recently moved and I’ve noticed how the stress and chaos of it all has started to affect our family. We’ve had more contention, less patience and you know the rest of the story. We all have those periods of time in our families.

One night recently, we sat down as a family and I asked the simple question, “What makes a strong family?”. One by one we talked about that question and made some decisions of things we could do to strengthen our family. That sparked an idea for a Family Night, so that’s what I’m going to share with you this month.

Dan’s Man Rant: Of Mouse and Dan

Dan’s Man Rant: Of Mouse and Dan

ByDan Jacobs

RH was the most diabolically clever mouse there ever was. I think he was toilet trained, because he never left droppings. I also am convinced he was smarter than me. He stole the bait out of my traps, ignored the mouse poison I had set out for him and even put two perfect little paw prints in one of those sticky traps (how the heck did he get out of that one??). It was like he was putting his hand-prints in cement for the Hollywood walk of fame, just to let me know that he was there. He was a ninja among mice.

Wisdom Scriptures – Including A Beautiful Scripture Printable (she: Rachel)

ByRachel D

Like many Bible verses, James 1:5-6 is a simple principle with eternal implications when is wholeheartedly embraced by a follower. Asking God with faith and committing to following the guidance received can literally change the world. I love these verses and so I put them together in an easy 8×10 printable, easy to frame or just pin to your bulletin board.

BBQ Chicken Salad (she: Leesh & Lu)

ByLeesh and Lu

I love having salad for dinner, but have kind of steered away from it while I’ve had toddlers at home. Without any, or many, molars it’s hard for them to chew and I don’t like to have to make a separate dinner for them. It took a while for me to figure out that the little ones love deconstructed salad just as much I love having it for dinner. Duh.

Creative License Plate Game – Decipher the Hidden Message! (she: Rachel)

ByRachel D

I get a kick out of the vanity plates I see around town, especially ones with creative spelling.

So I thought it would make a fun game to capture and translate license plates! I can’t guarantee that any of these are actually real, although there are rumors that these plates are truly on the road. You could use this easy-to-print license plate quiz for your family, a classroom game, or for your Cub Scout Pinewood Derby.

The Perfect Game – Thoughts on the Atonement (he: Dan)

ByDan Jacobs

I have come to realize and accept that I was never intended to be the champion of this match. There is someone else who has already played this game perfectly, and with exact obedience. He is the champion of my game. He has already set the example for me to reach for, but one He knows I will never attain. It is my belief that as he watches my efforts unfold, He isn’t sitting there with a clipboard jotting down every single error I commit. Not that He doesn’t see my each fault, He does, but it is my belief that he gently and continually encourages me, entreats me to improve, to re-engage, to pick up my pace, to keep shooting… He is the ultimate teammate, coach and fan.
