Grandma’s Amazing English Toffee (she: Kara)

Hi my name is Kara (friend and neighbor to the talented Mariel) I am a SAHM to 3 girls and one boy and wife to my handsome hubby! I love the month of February! I love the “love is in the air” feeling, the cute decorations, the color pink, giving my favorite people something special, and the yummy treats!

February also reminds me of my sweet Grandma that recently passed away. She was one of the most loving and positive people I knew. I have great memories of going to her house and eating the yummy candy she would make for holidays. One of my families favorites is her English Toffee.

Hey Everyone! It’s Adelle from Packed with Fun, the official blog for Get Away Today. I hope you’ve been having a great New Year! Over the holidays we put together a Not-Quite-Midnight Ball for my little princesses and their friends so that they could celebrate New Years Eve without staying up all hours of the night. You can read all about it here. It was a perfect princess party and one of the highlights was the Wish-Come-True Surprise Cupcakes. They were so easy and so much fun to make, plus the girls all loved them. If you have a princess party coming up, or just want to surprise your princess, try out this princess cupcake tutorial.

White Chocolate Cheesecake Fruit Dip (she: Samantha)

Hi, friends! It’s Samantha from Five Heart Home and I’m so glad to be back visiting Or So She Says this month with another fun recipe! I hope that everyone is having a great April and finally enjoying some spring weather. Today I brought by one of my favorite recent creations: a creamy fruit dip that boasts the flavor of white chocolate cheesecake! It’s the perfect accompaniment to fresh berries, apple slices, pineapple wedges, you name it! Although it’s so good you may find yourself bypassing the fruit and sneaking bites with a spoon…hypothetically speaking, of course. 😉
This white chocolate cheesecake fruit dip is a spin-off of one of my favorite springtime dessert recipes that happens to include a layer of white chocolate cream. In the process of perfecting that recipe, I tried different variations of the white chocolate cream, resulting in several leftover batches before deciding on the best version. Delicious as it was, I couldn’t figure out what to do with all of it until it occurred to me that it would make a mouthwatering dip for fruit. So today’s recipe is a happy consequence of those leftovers, slightly adapted to have a thicker, more dip-like consistency.

Banana Split Mini Bundt Cakes (she: Allie)

Banana Split Mini Bundt Cakes are such a Fun Treat! Moist Banana Cake is Filled with Pineapple, and Topped with Strawberry Buttercream, Chocolate Sauce, Peanuts, and a Cherry on Top. Perfect for your next Party!

When I think of Spring, I think of birthday parties. Both my boys were Spring babies, and I love that! When they were first born, I loved that just when we were ready to venture out of our little cocoon, gorgeous warm breezes were beckoning us to go on long stroller walks. And now that they’re bigger, I love that presents, parties, and games are there for them, just when their house-bound stir-craziness is at a fever pitch.

Since baking’s my favorite, I always try to come up with something super-special and fun for them on their birthdays. I think these Banana Split Mini Bundt Cakes definitely fit the bill!

Peanut Butter Chocolate Banana Chip Granola (she: Zainab)

Hi everyone, I’m Zainab the baker behind Blahnik Baker. I’m so excited to be sharing with you this peanut butter chocolate banana chip granola recipe as a new contributor here on OSSS! But before we talk about food, I should probably tell you a little bit about myself.
I’m a newly wed graduate student who is teaching herself her way around making delicious desserts and treats! I didn’t grow up baking like most people and had never baked before attempting to make a V-day cake for my then-fiance a few years ago. It was not the prettiest but he loved it 🙂 Since that disastrous first cake making experience, I’ve been on a mission to teach myself the basics of baking and decorating. That’s how I fell in love with baking and making special treats for my friends and family.

During the day, I work on my PhD in Neuroscience and in my spare time/weekends, I’m a bake-a-holic and shoe-a-holic! I love making easy, simple to assemble yet beautiful everyday desserts. But why am I telling you about all the desserts I make and here sharing a healthy granola? Well, while I would love to be eating cupcakes and cakes for every meal, I don’t. I try to balance my diet with healthier recipes, like this peanut butter granola, for most meals so I can indulge later.

Chai Spiced Scotch Shortbread (she: Allie)

How was your January? Mine was full of snow and dirty tissues, lol! Seriously, we’ve had so. much. snow this month! It’s been a record year here in the Philadelphia area. And now I am so pleased to finally be over the flu. Ugh! My older son brought it home from a birthday party a few weeks ago, and despite all my frantic attempts to clean every possible surface with disinfecting wipes, it only took a day and half before my other son and I were both knocked out with it. And it was a doozy! But things are finally returning to normal around here, or as close to it as we can get, when school is cancelled or delayed every few days!
Speaking of being snowed in, today’s recipe is just perfect for those kind of days. My boys love “helping” Dad shovel the snow from our driveway, and when they come back in all rosy-cheeked and bright-eyed, I love to be able to offer them a cup of hot cocoa to warm their tummies. This shortbread is such a lovely accompaniment!

Valentine Chocolate Sugar Cookies (she: Gina)

Hi everyone! It’s Gina from Kleinworth & Co. again.

I’m back to share with you an fun little Valentine’s Day treat today. I absolutely love these cookies. Their fun Valentine colors…..the fact that they are chocolate. Love Love Love. I originally started with the mindset that these cookies would be frosted. But then as I realized that I had just purchased SO MANY bags of M&M’s with the intention of using them in baking. I am running out of time to make goodies for Valentine’s Day. Before long all these red & pink candies won’t be able to be used in my baking & there they will sit. So I scrapped the frosting idea, cut out a lot of time in the kitchen & added them to these fun Chocolate Sugar Cookies to make some really cute treats.

Chocolate Peanut Clusters ~ Easy Valentine’s Day Treat!

It makes sense that chocolate peanut clusters would be easy to make, but I think I never realized just HOW easy they are to make! I’m talking, it takes 3 minutes to prepare, 3 minutes to drop in clumps on wax paper, and 5 seconds to stick in the fridge. So, if you have 6 minutes and 5 seconds to spare, you could easily make peanut clusters.

Toasted Coconut & Almond Matzoh Candy (she: Anne)

Happy 2014 everyone…hopefully it is off to a great start! After the holidays are done and the new year is upon us, I usually find that I have accumulated a pantry full of baking ingredients, haphazardly thrown onto the shelves in my haste to get everything done in those last crazy weeks of December. Then in January comes the resolution to be organized. But all of those ingredients! What is a girl to do but keep on baking? Today I am sharing a concoction that came together because I was trying to use up some of those pantry items so that I can get down to organizing. Please tell me I am not the only crazy person that does that…?

Toasted coconut and almond, chocolate covered, salted caramel matzoh candy. That’s a mouthful.
